Ready for the Christmas rush?

This year has flown past and though it may not seem like it, Christmas is almost upon us. With postage delays, shipping closures and overwhelming demand, retailers and consumers alike will need to get into the Christmas spirit early if they wish to share in the merriment.

The Christmas madness, rush and mayhem occurs annually regardless of pandemics. Only now, the best thing you could do for your business is to plan ahead. To be in for the rush, those campaigning for Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Boxing Day sales should consider getting ahead too, especially as delivery deadlines will be shorter than ever, as our postage systems bow to pressure.

But there is good news too! The Australian Retailers Association (ARA) estimates that Australians will spend more than $11 billion on Christmas presents this year, as we reported in our September Bulletin. For businesses who have struggled through a pandemic, Christmas is set to be merry. And with the term “shop local” becoming a recent buzzword over social media, Australian retailers especially should look forward to this Christmas rush.

With the easing of restrictions nationwide, in-person retail may also have a share in the profits. But with more people shopping online there are now multitudes of ways to reach the right consumer. Online platforms such as Instagram and TikTok have boosted tools for retailers, meaning now is the time to take advantage of those channels and promote through digital campaigns.
