1. Heating up for the holidays with new tools from Meta.

In the lead-up to holiday season (yes, we’re already thinking about it) Meta has announced new tools to help advertisers. The first will allow advertisers to set a higher budget for a campaign within a specific time period such as weekends or Black Friday sales which are already high traffic. Offering in-ad discounts to shoppers will also be made easier and opt-in “Reminder Ads” will allow users to sign up to the events or sales they’re interred in. These initiatives all aim to help businesses gain traction during the height of promotional periods and we’re curious to see how useful they will be.

 2. Facebook joins the rebrand bandwagon.

This month Meta joined the world of the rebrand with a subtle new logo and visual identity. The new logo has a focus on colour with a deeper shade of their signature blue. Their aim is to reflect a futuristic step forward into the metaverse, and also help with visual accessibility in the app, conveying a sense of innovation and the company’s vision for the future. 3. Google leans in to using AI with “Generative Experience”.

Things are ever-changing when it comes to AI and now Google has officially rolled out a new feature called “Google Search Generative Experience.” This feature aims to enhance search results with AI. Essentially, it allows users to access specific web pages directly from the search results, making it more convenient to find and access information. Now users might be able to find what they need without having to click through multiple links, and anything that enhances the user experience is a plus for us.

5. Ikea’s new London showstopper is an example of excellent branding.

In a move that is very on-brand and so creative we just had to mention it – Ikea has announced their new store on Oxford Street in London with a simple yet effective marketing move. Meet the giant blue Ikea bag that, at 62 feet tall and 128 feet wide, now towers over the street. This billboard move is not only eye-catching but recognisable without having to use generic “coming soon” copy. Everyone from all over the world can recognise an Ikea bag and understand what it symbolises. Marketing like this is something we can all aspire to.

6. TikTok finds a way to tackle in-app AI.

Platforms are slowly discovering ways to navigate the AI world, and the first with an official plan, no surprise, is TikTok. This month TikTok announced new in-stream labels for AI generated content. Now creators who have used AI are required to flag it as such, or risk having their content removed.This aims to improve transparency in the app so users understand what kind of content they are viewing. Hopefully this will get ahead of the AI wave of misinformation that could unfold.
